Looking back over the generation in which I grew up, it was the proverbial best of times and worst of times. There were several downturns in our country which could easily have developed into a rather pessimistic view of life in general. But those days also gave us so much hope! They were filled with fear and wonder, hope and discouragement. It seemed to be a balance of incredible advances in one area, while deep struggles in another. But all in all, they were great personal days filled with carefree roving and new sights and sounds around every corner. The safety of friends and family was always close at hand and the bright hope of tomorrow was to be embraced by the rising of the next day's sun. And I am so thankful that I grew up in such a good place and at such a good time. That place is Pearl River, New York, the small town that carries the nickname "The Town of Friendly People." Here is my life in the Pearl.
